TBI Concurs With Center Hill Death Investigation
WJLE Friday January 5, 2018

After reopening the investigation into the death of a woman at Center Hill Lake, the TBI says it agrees with the DeKalb County Sheriff's Department's conclusion that the death of 21 year old Lauren Agee was accidental.
Agee was on an outing with friends at an event known as "Wakefest" at Pates Ford Marina in July 2015 and was camping near the edge of a steep cliff overlooking the lake. Authorities believe Agee fell from the cliff into the water, resulting in her death.
Agee's mother told a Nashville TV station she believed her daughter had been murdered. But authorities say no new evidence has been turned up to support any indication of foul play.

Republican U.S. Rep. Marsha Blackburn says she raised $2 million in the last quarter of 2017 in her bid to succeed U.S. Sen. Bob Corker.
A campaign news release Thursday says Blackburn entered the new year with more than $4.6 million cash on hand. She had $3.2 million cash in her House account at the end of September.
Republican hopeful Stephen Fincher says he raised $1.45 million in about two months for his bid to succeed Republican U.S. Sen. Bob Corker.
A campaign news release Thursday says the former congressman had more than $2.3 million in his federal campaign account before the October-through-December fundraising quarter and entered 2018 with $3.7 million cash on hand.
The Democratic primary path appears clear for former Gov. Phil Bredesen.

Standoff Ends in Arrest
Jay Walker Thursday January 4, 2018

A standoff on a bluff overlooking the Collins River ended peacefully Wednesday evening with the arrest of a man for whom authorities had outstanding warrants.
Warren County Sheriff Jackie Matheny said 35 year old Chris Johnson was wanted for domestic assault in connection with an incident Tuesday night. When a deputy went to his residence, Johnson fled on foot to a bluff and threatened to jump into the frigid water of the Collins River. After a standoff that lasted nearly four hours, McMinnville Police negotiator Bill Davis was able to convince Johnson to give himself up.
Johnson faces charges of evading arrest, reckless endangerment, false imprisonment, and domestic assault.

Weather Causes Delay in Schools-UPDATED
Jay Walker Thursday January 4, 2018

The extreme cold conditions this week have prompted school officials to cancel classes for Thursday in the Warren County School System.
The frigid temperatures that hit the area on New Years Day have caused pipes to freeze and break in many homes and have kept workers busy repairing and replacing heating units that couldn't handle the load.
Forecasters say another round of extremely cold temperatures will hit the area Thursday and Friday.
